Whats been going down in Perth

Good day all you cobbers from down under!!! Well so starts a busy few weekend for myself and here is a quick report as to whats been happening!. Last week i took a trip to the First "Gravity Enduro event" run on the new trails in Kalamunda. It was a really fun day and i would have loved to have been part of it but couldnt get an entry. The fastest times where posted by Sam Hill ( a Perth local and world class downhill ripper i learned later) "Sam was the man" Smooth, fast and bionic. He even cleared the jump section from berm to jump. Heres a couple of pictures i took of some unnamed riders. The amtmosphere was really good with everyone cheering for crashers, smashers, rippers and not so rippers. Next event i can do i am in!!
I got my very first MTB event this Sunday 33 years after starting BMX racing i am finally taking the plunge!! Its the State XC championships. So i hope to place ok and not hold the fast guys up. I ve then got the Dwellingup 100 on Sept 7th which is a big event in the MTB calendar then i am off to Italy to compete in the Masters World road race in Trento, Italy. This will include real mountain climbs something lacking in Perth. Its a 114km with the last 20km being a pretty steep climb. I hope to finish respectfully as my 80kg aint going up no hill fast! the long winter

Well its really that time of year, you can see the light at the end of the tunnel but we are still in January!! Training is going well with regular Monday and Friday sessions at Sheffield Indoor for the BCF academy youngsters. I finally recovered from Loughborough (took a while) 6am starts and 12 midnight finishes! Ive been training more specifically now with the aid of Tim Buckle BCF sprint coach who had helped with some routines. Iam also building a new bike its an inch or so longer.Alumimum Supercross 20" It will be a beauty and will have all DXR parts on (thanks Alan or thank me) After not racing for 20 years then racing cruiser from May last year the 20s" are a revelation. Shanaze Read gave me some great advice she said "loosen up over the jumps and you will be fine!! Thanks Shinny just have to point out that iam 41 and every jump is twice as big as KING KONG and iam stiff because iam terrified. iam getting there though. Cheers for the advice..
