Snowballs in March





Iam just off a three day BCF talent camp. We where assessing the next crop of hopefuls to MAYBE join the BMX Talent team program.
It kicked off Friday with a nutrition workshop, then saturday morning was straight into a circuit session taken by myself and the larger than life CK Flash AKA Michael PUSEY. The guys and girls all 14 of them got really put through there paces.
Then it was into the sprint athletics track for some timed gates 10m/40/80m checking gearing technique pedal style etc.

We then headed back to the hotel for food and rest.
Sunday was full on someone said it would snow!! "yeah right" it did...
We where on a two hour mountain bike ride led by mountain man himself Dave Taylor.

The hailstones/snow was actually coming up at you. This was a tough cold ride with most of this lot not being used to putting in the hard yards on a different style bike. The group splintered and i led back some to the van to get out of the below freezing temps!! Check pics.

The arvo was a quick session on Sheffield bmx track well its more of a park style one man affair but it did for the guys and girls to show there skills and do some technique work and timed runs. Standouts included Abbie Taylor, (next champ??) Andy Cameron, Jordan Hayes with everyone putting in great effort. Check clips and pics..

the long winter

Well its really that time of year, you can see the light at the end of the tunnel but we are still in January!! Training is going well with regular Monday and Friday sessions at Sheffield Indoor for the BCF academy youngsters. I finally recovered from Loughborough (took a while) 6am starts and 12 midnight finishes! Ive been training more specifically now with the aid of Tim Buckle BCF sprint coach who had helped with some routines. Iam also building a new bike its an inch or so longer.Alumimum Supercross 20" It will be a beauty and will have all DXR parts on (thanks Alan or thank me) After not racing for 20 years then racing cruiser from May last year the 20s" are a revelation. Shanaze Read gave me some great advice she said "loosen up over the jumps and you will be fine!! Thanks Shinny just have to point out that iam 41 and every jump is twice as big as KING KONG and iam stiff because iam terrified. iam getting there though. Cheers for the advice..
